Hexie Club - 1/2/15

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Fussy Cutting Challenge - Have you made something with your rosette yet? Finished projects are due by the March meeting. The finished items will be part of our show at the Arts Council in September.

LeftRight Game -  Bring a fat quarter to exchange in our monthly LeftRight Game.

Logo Project - Directions were distributed at the last meeting (let me know if  you need another copy), colors have been assigned and blocks are due by the April meeting. You'll be making 2 blocks:  1 for the group quilt (due in April) and another to make into something for yourself. Both items will be part of our show at the Arts Council in September.

Out & About - dates are still to be finalized:
     September - hexie quilt show upstairs at the Arts Council for their 40th anniversary
     Winter 2015/16 - quilt show at the Warsaw YMCA

Retreat - a suggestion was made to have an EPP retreat at Camp Asbury. We would probably expand that thought to include any kind of handwork. Anyone interested?
I've only heard from one or 2 people - is anyone else interested?

Hexie Club - 12/5/14

Birthday club -  --- Barb would like "earth tone" diamonds.

LeftRight Game - No fat quarters needed this month - instead we'll be using our fussing cutting challenge rosettes. Is yours done yet? 

Logo - I'm trying to get directions together for making our logos. You guys were a lot more enthusiastic than I was expecting :-) If you have already picked your color and or fabrics then bring them with you. You'll need 4 FQs that are from the same color family and shaded light to dark. We will need to pick black and white fabrics to purchase so thatw e all use the same ones.

Out & About - Jackie at the ACWC is thrilled we will be doing the 2 quilt shows (hexie club projects in September and any quilt next winter at the YMCA). She'll be getting back to me with dates...

Projects - This month's project is Bonnie's Snowman Mugrug. I'll add the supply list as soon as I confirm it with Bonnie. I emailed the wrong Bonnie and waited and waited for an answer. Sorry!!

Supplies:

• using 1" hexies: white surrounded by any christmas fabric.
• tiny black buttons for eyes (or Agnes is bringing black snaps to share)
• a tiny bit of orange backed by Steam A Seam (I'll have some to share if anyone needs)
• a pencil for marking the mouth
• black embroidery floss for the mouth and black thread for attaching eyes

Birthday club -  ---  No birthday girls this month - now you have extra time to work on your fussy cutting challenge.

LeftRight Game - Bring a food related FQ for our monthly Left-Right Game.

Project - This months meeting is BYOP. You know - again!

  - Don't forget the Perry Bicentennial Quilt show is Saturday, 9/6? The show is from 10-4:30 and we have a schedule set up to demo our favorite obsession (or maybe it's just my fav obsession?!). I'll update the schedule next week.

Perry Bicentennial Quilt Show

Hello again and thanks to everyone who has already said they could help demo hexies at the Perry Bicentennial Quilt Show in the Perry Village Park/Fireman's Building on Saturday, 9/6/14.

Wyoming County Fair

Hello ladies - once again it's time to demo hexies at the Wyoming County Fair!!

We are scheduled from 6-8 in front of Claudia's booth but I know some of the girls are coming early to get dinner. We can also stay as late as we want since the building is open until 10 or 11pm.

So far we have the following: Ann, Bonnie, Carol, Cheryl, Grace, Johanna, Lisa, and Sarah.

Hexie Club - July Update!

Hopefully everyone remembers that there is no meeting tomorrow - enjoy your Fourth of July picnics and fireworks!!!

Bonnie, Grace, Cheryl, Ann, Carol and I had a grand time in the ACWC booth for opening day of the Farmers' Market, which also turned out to be Quilt in Public Day! Someone said we should do it more often and I agree. We are definitely on for Friday at Pike Fair (8/15/14) but speak up if you have other places we can quilt in public!

Have you started your fussy cutting project yet? I started a tab at the top of the blog to log the project. If you have any photos of your progress, send them my way and I'll add them to the blog.

Are you working on your birthday diamonds? I've got mine cut to take camping!!
For our August meeting you'll need "surprise" for Robyn, blue for Lisa and "scrappy" for Agnes.
I've updated the birthday tab if you want to do all of your diamonds now. Let me know if your color needs to be changed.

-The group would like to work on a group fussy cutting project this fall but we need your input. Please bring your ideas on fabric, paper shape and size, pattern, etc. The internet holds a gazillion ideas and we need your help in narrowing down the choices!

Show-n-Tell -

The July meeting has been cancelled - enjoy the first Friday with your families for the Fourth of July!

However, we will again be demonstrating at the Fair this year: August 15th.

Hexie Club - 5/2/14

Just one way to use your birthday diamonds next year...

Birthday club - 
-This month everyone should bring black & white 3/4" hexies. Remember, it's a secret!!
-Papers and templates for the 1.5" 6-point diamonds for Round #2 of Birthday Club will be available at the meeting.
-If you already have the papers and want to get started: think purple, blue and scrappy

LeftRight Game - Bring a FQ for our monthly Left-Right Game.

I'm still deciding on the last 6 hexies - hopefully this weekend!

Project - 
-This month we will be working on a fussy cutting project that looks more complicated than it is. Feel free to bring any stripe or border fabric (at least 1/2 yard) to play with.
-If you want to replicate my project you will need 1/2 yard of the RWB border fabric at TQD and a FQ of the coordinating red fabric.
- You'll need to bring a cutting mat and rotary cutter, 1.5" hexie papers and 1.5" hexie template. Claudia has both available at TQD.
