january meeting

In the interest of everyone's health - the annual New Year's Day hexie party has been cancelled :(

I'll be hexing at home and I hope all y'all will be able to do the same! I'm looking forward to lots of show--n--tell when we get back together!

Hexie Club - 12/4/20

 12/4/20 - Christmas Party

Games - There will be 3 games - feel free to play any or all of the games

• Bring a Christmas FQ - this will be a winner takes all game
• Bring a FQ of your choice - you will go home with a different FQ 
• Bring a pair of (holiday) socks filled with $10 worth of goodies. You will go home with a different pair of filled socks

Food - 

We are ordering dinner from Camp Asbury. The lasagna meal will come with salad and bread. The meal will be $12 per person. Please bring your own drink or a bottle of something to share.

RSVPs for food are due by Wednesday 12/2/20 at noon. Please specify meat or veggie lasagna.

I think that this month's meeting might be a warmer day than last month but we will still meet inside. Depending on how many attend we can space ourselves around the tables on the stage or we can also space out into the rest of the store as well. Don't forget (prepackaged) snacks to share and show-n-tell.

12/4/20 - I know it's hard to believe but Christmas is on our doorstep and it's time to plan our annual Christmas Party...

Games 

-- Bring two FQs, one Christmas and one anything goes - I'll have a left-right game and a winner takes all game :)

--In the past we have also had a mugrug swap - want to do that again?

Food

In the past we have held a potluck dinner. I'm not sure potluck is a good idea yet given the current covid conditions so what do you think about ordering food this year? Pizza? Subs? Restaurant?

Given the expected weather for Friday, we are going to hold hexie club inside. Claudia will set up seating "stations" around the store or we can just sit around the FQ table. Please let me know if you are coming so that we can plan the inside seating.

Hello all - I think those of us that came to last month's outside meeting had a good time so I'm hoping for the same this month. The weather is looking good so keep your fingers crossed!

Please bring your own lawn chair. Masks are optional since we will be sitting 6 feet apart.

We could consider sitting behind the store so the traffic noise isn't so loud. I guess who ever arrives first will get to make the decision. 

Don't forget show and tell!

Due to the ongoing pandemic, this month's meeting will be held outside. We should be able to space far enough apart to not need masks but feel free to wear one if you prefer.

Please bring your own lawn chair.

I haven't seen any thing official but I'm pretty sure homemade snacks and potlucks are out of the question for some time to come. Feel free to bring store bought treats if you feel like sharing.

As you may already know, the store is closed for some minor repairs. We hope this is not the case for our meeting but please be aware that the store may not have electric this weekend and therefore there will be no overhead  lights for shopping or the bathroom.

I plan on handing out the HST block designs at this meeting. I know the start has been delayed several times and I hope that I've ordered the requested papers but we shall see when we get to Friday...

Let me know if you need me to order any other papers. I hope to place an order real soon as a friend and I are starting Mrs Peach - maybe you want to join in?! It's a great fussy cutting /scrap using pattern.

Hexie Club Update

Hello all -

July - no Hexie Club on 7/3 due to the holiday. If anyone wants to organize a few members for the following Friday please let Claudia know. (I'll be hexing in the ADK so I can't join in!)

August - we will have hexie club outside on the front lawn, similar to Quilt In Public Day a few weeks ago. Bring your lawn chair and a citronella candle. LOL. We will space out so that no masks are needed. More info to come...

Hexie Night - 3/6/20

It's been a while since some of you have been able to attend a meeting thanks to holidays and the weather. I'm looking forward to show-n-tell! I know I've made some great strides on my Underground blocks.

At this meeting we will take orders for your HST papers. I'll have a chart where you can log what size blocks you want to make and how many blocks. I'll order you the best sized bag of papers.

9/2021 - Biennial ACWC Quilt show

HST Quilt (can you think of a better name?)

There is a lot of individuality in this group project. The same but different! Everyone will be given the same HST block designs but you get to decide which designs you would like to make. Pick different blocks or make the same block over and over in different color schemes. Choose a single neutral to pull the blocks together, go whole hog scrappy or just use 2 fabrics. The choices are yours.

Each of us will need to pick the following:

• a project - pillow, table runner, placemats, wall hanging, quilt, etc
• block size - 6", 8", 12", etc
• how many blocks - 1 for a pillow, 3 for a table runner, 12 for a quilt, etc

Schedule:

• March - take paper orders
• May - Papers will be distributed
• June - (25) 4x4 HST block designs will be distributed so the stitching can begin!

Hexie Night - 2/7/20

Friday, 2/7/20 - Camp Asbury

• This weekend The Quilter's Daughter is holding a retreat at Camp Asbury on Silver Lake. Instead of meeting at the store, we will be crashing the retreat for our meeting at the usual times. Be sure to bring show-n-tell to share with the other quilters.

• LeftRight Game -  We will not be doing a monthly LR game this year - instead, saving it for special occasions. I'm sure that will include both Christmas parties but speak up if you can think of another holiday or theme to include in one of our other meetings.

HST Quilt (can you think of a better name?)

• Our next group project will be HST blocks. You get to pick the block size as well as the number of blocks you would like to make for a table runner, placemats or quilt. 
• Think about what size blocks and project you would like to make - we will soon be taking orders for triangle papers.
