ACWC Exhibit

Just 14 days (!!!!!!!) until our exhibit is hung at the ACWC on Wednesday, 9/4/19, starting at 4:30.
Arts Council for Wyoming County is at 31 South Main Street, Perry.
Our exhibit is in the upstairs gallery.

So far I have 9 entry forms from Agnes, Ann, Barb, Carol, Cheryl, Kelly, Lisa, Sarah, Sue. Do we have any other entries?? If so, please contact Sarah ASAP to get her the needed data.

Our opening reception is Friday, 9/6/19 from 6:30 until 8:30 - Jackie advertised these times so we'll need to run with them. I still think it's a good idea to get to the ACWC at 6 so that we can set up the food and greet our guests.

So far I have the following food items. Please let me know what you can bring if it's not already listed.
Fruit - Agnes, Sue Toal
Veg - Sue Ferris, Luanne
Cheese/crackers - Ann, Johanna
Cookies/brownies - Sue Chiddy, Carol, Cheryyl
Other - Larae (danish), Lisa (hot dip/chips), Barb (zuke bread)
ACWC is still donating the drinks.

Please advertise to as many of your friends as possible - both for the reception and for the exhibition as a whole.

Have I forgotten anything??!!

We've got some important decisions to make at this meeting:
  • Pick a set up date/time. Date options are September 4, 5 or 6
  • Tear down will be Saturday 10/5. We need to pick a time and volunteers to help
  • We can write an article for the fall ACWC newsletter. Any volunteers? Due 7/15. The article can include a 300dpi photo.
  • I told Jackie we were interested in having an "opening" with food. If we provide the appetizers, plates, napkins, etc then the ACWC will provide the drinks. We need to pick a couple date suggestions to schedule around dates they are planning for the downstairs gallery.
  • The ACWC will again make postcards for us before Pike Fair. The postcards can be mailed - do we have anyone or any groups we want to mail them to or just use them as mini-posters? The postcards can include the same or a different photo than the newsletter article.

Hexie Club - 9/1/17

The September meeting is to set up our exhibit at the Arts Council for Wyoming County (31 N Main Street, Perry). We'll start at 6pm and work until we are done. There are 22 quilts this year (33 last time) so I don't expect that it will take us too long to hang them all.

Please remember to have a hanging sleeve on your quilts - sleeves can be pinned on.

Also, please put your name on your quilt if it doesn't have a label - I use blue painters tape on the back

======================================
Birthday swap -

  • Johanna /NONscrappy red
======================================
LeftRight Game -  no game this month

======================================
Red, White & Gratitude -

Squares of WOW fabric were distributed at the last meeting so that we can hand applique our RWB rosettes to the squares. Any orientation is fine, as long as you are within the seam allowance. We'll be working on the layout at the August meeting.

Hexie Club - 7/7/17

Hello Ladies - I hope you are ready for a busy month because we've got a lot to accomplish!!

Birthday swap - Sue - 2 each of 2 different greens

LeftRight Game -  please bring a Red, White & Blue FQ.

======================================
Snacks - It's a Christmas in July Party so think cookies!! Cut outs. Bars. Molasses, Candy Lassies. Anything goes but make sure to bring a couple copies of the recipe if you want to share or send it to me and I'll add it to the recipe tab on our blog.

We are also going to need some drinks with all these cookies...Carol is going to make eggnog and we've got a couple partial bottles of wine. Does anyone want to bring milk?  (Cathy is bringing milk) Or another holiday drink?

If you've got a few spare plastic cups at home we could use a few of those too.

======================================
Brown Bag Challenge - Projects are due at this months meeting - are you going to be done in time? Bring your project wrapped so the recipient won't be able to guess what you've made her!

======================================
Quilt in Public Day is Saturday 6/17/17. Bring your projects and a lawn chair! Between 10am and 2pm we'll be hexing on the front lawn! If it rains we'll move inside. Bring your lunch or we'll order out.

======================================
ACWC show - Don't forget we are going to do another exhibit at the ACWC in September. The exhibit does not have to be a hexie related quilt and you are allowed to sell any item that is shown. I'll have sign up forms at the July meeting.

======================================
Red, White & Gratitude - Bev Edwards (Castile, 585-493-2444) is collecting patriotic quilts (60x80) for a quilt show at the Warsaw Legion Hall on November 4th. Smaller items can also be donated and will be used as door prizes. After the show the quilts will be donated to Wyoming County Vets. All donations can be dropped off at the store since Bev doesn't have storage space. Can you believe that Bev is only expecting 25 quilts??!! Lets all pitch in to far exceed that number!

Hexie Club is working to make a donation quilt. Each member is asked to make 3 rosettes with 1.5" hexies in red and blue fabrics. We will discuss appliqueing the rosettes to white squares at the July meeting. Can't make the July meeting?/ Then please drop your rosettes off at the store, send them with a friend or take them to Sarah's office. All quilts are due  11/1/17 so we don't have any time to waste given our busy summer schedules...

Heavens to Murgatroyd.., I think that's everything. What did I forget??

Monday, July 11, 2016

Hexie Club - 8/5/16 - UPDATED!!!!

Birthday swap -
   July Houses:
        Pat - Scrappy anything
        Sue - Scrappy blue

   August Houses:
        Agnes - NONscrappy batik
        Angie - NONscrappy anything
        Lisa - NONscrappy anything
        Robyn - Civil War (scrappy or NONscrappy is givers choice!)

Is everyone caught up on chrysanthemums so I can remove them from the birthday tab?

Please bring your suggestions to the August meeting for next year's shape. Send me an email if you won't be at the meeting. Due to top secret projects we should really make a decision at the August or September meetings.

LeftRight Game -  please bring a light green

Snacks to share - surprise us!!

2016 UFO Challenge
Don't forget to bring your UFO for show-n-tell to the August meeting.
Deets are on the UFO tab up above.

Farm Market -
It appears we are not going to be asked to the farm market under the usual auspices of GLOW Traditions (which paid a stipend) since they are going with a Mexican theme this year. On the other hand, Jackie is supposed to be getting me some dates that we could demo at the regular ACWC booth (no stipend). I'll let you know the dates ASAP.

ACWC September Show -
It appears that Jackie forgot we were committed to the upstairs gallery in September (she has been planning the African mask exhibit for 3 years) so our "normal" space is not available. She offered a month at the YMCA in Warsaw if we are interested. She actually offered a longer time but I thought it was a long commitment.  Please let me know ASAP what you are interested in...nothing, 1 month or longer than 1 month. Thanks!

Hexie club - 9/4/15

ACWC Exhibit - This meeting will be held at the ACWC (31 S Main Street, Perry) to set up our exhibit. We probably won't have any time to sew but one never knows so feel free to bring a project to work on if you like.

If you haven't turned in your registration forms, please do so ASAP so that I can get the ID tags typed up.

Bring your exhibits with you on 9/4/15 or drop them off at Sarah's office (22 S Main St) or at the Quilter's Daughter by 9/2/15. Don't forget that quilts should have a hanging sleeve on the back - you can temporarily whip stitch one in place if needed. Check here if you need directions.

Birthday club -  Johanna is looking forward to scrappy red chrysanthemums! Don't forget we have several new members so be sure to check the birthday tab at the top of this page.

LeftRight Game -  No game this month - keep your eye out for "fall" fabrics for the October meeting

Name Tags - Please make a hexie themed name tag for our meetings. Our goal is to have these by the October meeting but if you have it done already feel free to wear it at the September meeting.

If you don't have a design in mind write your name on a 1.5" hexie with a permanent marker.

Snacks - Bring something yummy - we might work up a sweat while setting up our exhibit! LOL

Farmers' Market and ACWC exhibit

Registration forms for our ACWC exhibit were just emailed to everyone...Please return them no later than 8/21/15...sooner would be easier for the typist :)
7/25/15 is our demo day at the Perry Farmers' Market. Please leave a comment on this post as to what time you think you will be arriving/leaving.

The logo table topper is at the store with just 2 more seams to finish - feel free to stop in for a few minutes to work on it when the store is open. If it's not done by 7/25 we will bring it to the farm market to finish.

I'll be finalizing info for our YWCA exhibit at the end of July...probably about the same time I post the info for our August meeting...
